She wanted to share a fun itinerary with you for your next visit to Amador. Growing up in Amador, Mya appreciates the multitudes of California history we have in our community and all that we have to offer. She gives some great insights from a local perspective. Enjoy!

DAY ONE
Enjoy the breakfast spread here at Rest, or head down the street to fig barn coffee cafe.
Take a morning walk down main street of Plymouth, using the posted historical signs to learn something new! These signs also include a qr code which directs you to more information and videos. head over to Amador City to explore the Amador Whitney Museum, open friday to sunday, 11am to 3pm.
Check out the many shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms in Amador City. Stop in to The Imperial Hotel for lunch, or head over to Sutter Creek!
After lunch, walk down Eureka Street in sutter creek to see The Knight’s Foundry, america’s last water-powered foundry and machine shop. Make sure to check online to see their tour dates!
Shop around sutter creek or grab a coffee at Chocolatte before making your way back to Plymouth to explore the Shenandoah Valley.
The Shenandoah Valley museum at the Sobon Family Estate highlights the incredible history of the viticulture in the area while being located at one of the oldest wineries in California, as well as a registered historic landmark.
After a long day of learning and traversing the county, enjoy dinner at Taste Restaurant and Wine Bar, open thursday to monday, just down the block from rest hotel.
Day Two:
Kick off your day right with breakfast at the Serbian owned Blue Door Bakery in Jackson, just a short drive down the road. Make sure to get there early though, they sell out fast! After enjoying a turnover or sticky bun, head one street up from Jackson’s Main street to visit the Amador County Museum, located in the home of one of Amador’s earliest settlers. It is open Friday – Sunday 11AM TO 3PM.
from here, one can stay in Jackson, or continue the journey up to the more mountainous parts of the county. On the way to Volcano, there is Indian Grinding Rock state historic park, as well as Black Chasm Cavern. These spots provide different examples of Amador county’s history, both equally as enjoyable to discover. Take a walk around a beautiful state park while learning about the local native american tribes, or perhaps brave the deep caves of Black Chasm.
Up the road from these is the small town of Volcano, which was of the most vital areas to the growth of the gold rush. There’s plenty to discover, and great options for dining, such a the Volcano Union Pub & Inn
If one chooses to stay in Jackson, they can head to Kennedy Gold Mine for a tour around and into a simulation of the mine. This is one of the world’s deepest gold mines, and during your tour you’ll be able to explore the grounds while learning about the process of mining, melting, and stamping gold. PUBLIC tOURS ARE AVAILABLE EVERY SATURDAY & SUNDAY FROM 10AM TO 3:30PM, OR PRIVATE TOURS CAN BE SCHEDULED AND RESERVED AHEAD OF TIME.
